West African countries are countries situated in the Western part of Africa with Nigeria been the largest in terms of population and Landmark etc. 

Looking at the Map of Africa, precisely, in West Africa, we have 16 countries, they are:

Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo, 

The total population of Western Africa according to the United Nations is 381 million people approximately. (381,981,000) of which 189,672,000 are Female and 192,309,000 Male.
